Teacher of Science in Biology (April - October 2025) - Island School

We are looking to hire a suitably qualified Science Teacher with a speciality in Biology. The post will be full-time for Maternity Cover from April 2025 to October 2025.

The successful candidate should be a Biology specialist, preferably with recent experience teaching the IB Diploma Programme. It would also be preferred if the candidate also has experience teaching ESS and additional Science subjects at IGCSE level.

Island School is a highly successful IB school located in the heart of Hong Kong. 1200 students aged 11 to 18 study an innovative and exciting curriculum combining our self-designed courses, the MYP, IGCSE, IBCP and IBDP programs. Responsibilities:

Teachers are expected to demonstrate excellent professional practice with commitment and flexibility to provide high standards of teaching and learning within the school and faculty. 

• Lesson planning and delivery including 
• Teaching on a full-time timetable including preparation and marking of work
• Prepare assessments and reports according to the curriculum guidelines, and conduct examinations following the exam boards
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Science and related fields. 
• Leverage ongoing assessments to inform and adapt teaching practices.
• Support the pastoral and co-curricular work of the school
• Participate in leading the school's extra-curricular activities and events

The successful candidates should have:

• A relevant degree and postgraduate qualification in teaching.
• 1-3 years’ teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation.
• An ability to teach Biology and ESS to IB-Level 
• An ability to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to IGCSE, and integrated Science to Key Stage 3
• An enthusiastic and innovative approach to Science teaching 
• Excellent communication, organisational, interpersonal and time management skills.
• An ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning in Science.
• The ability to work as part of a team and the willingness to develop new resources 
• The desire and ability to realize the potential of students of all abilities.
• An awareness of current educational developments in Science education worldwide.
• A commitment to pastoral care and extra-curricular activities within the school.

Applicants must be registered teachers under the EDB of HK.

Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
