We are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our over-subscribed school. The position would suit a candidate looking for either a part time or a full time role.

This post is suitable for an experienced teacher or an ECT who would receive excellent support from a hardworking and dedicated department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is committed to inspiring and motivating students through their innovative and engaging teaching.

Science is held in high regard at The Hollyfield School and the proportion of students taking Separate Sciences is much higher than the national average. Many go on to study the three Sciences at A Level in our thriving sixth form. We are currently developing our knowledge-rich curriculum in conjunction with our partner science departments in the Trust in order to provide our students with a world class programme of study. The science department has an excellent extra-curricular offering with trips that include an annual visit to CERN in Geneva, London Zoo and the Big Bang Fair, with a large proportion of our students taking Separate Science GCSE (with specialist teachers) and then progressing on to Science A Levels.

The successful candidate will meet the following essential criteria:

●     QTS;

●     a broad base of subject knowledge;

●     the ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4 & 5;

●     a clear vision for a knowledge-rich curriculum;

●     a clear understanding of successful classroom practice and

        evidence based teaching;

●     employs a range of teaching and learning strategies;

●     the ability to work effectively as part of a curriculum team;

●     the ability to maintain good classroom behaviour;

●     effective interpersonal skills;

●     able to demonstrate suitability to work with children and

        young people.

Hollyfield is a beautiful school with a thriving sixth form, in the Surbiton area of Outer London. Excellent transport links enable our staff and young people to take full advantage of the wealth of opportunities that London provides. We are an ambitious school that puts student achievement and wellbeing at its heart.

Hollyfield is part of the Every Child, Every Day Multi Academy Trust and we have strong relationships with our Trust partners. In April 2020 we were judged by Ofsted to be ‘good’: ‘School leaders are keen to ensure all pupils achieve their best. Pupils respond well to leaders’ high expectations. There is a distinct sense of community in the school. Pupils grow in confidence and learn to work together well as a result.’

The trust provides excellent subject-level support, CPD and Leadership CPD through several programmes externally and within the Trust.
