Job overview
Job Description: Teacher of Singing
Part Time, Term Time Only.
Terrington Hall Prep School is seeking to engage a versatile, dynamic and talented peripatetic Teacher of Voice from beginner to advanced to join this flagship department from 1st January 2025. The department comprises a Director of Performing Arts and 9 other peripatetic music and drama teachers. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role supported by relevant qualifications to deliver inspiring music provision to students across pupils aged 6-13 and will be a confident performer with a passion for putting students’ musical experiences first. Initially there will be 2 days of teaching (days tbc) with the possibility to expand as new pupils gain interest. Experience and willingness to help with choirs and vocal ensembles is preferrable.
Part-time peripatetic teachers are regarded as self-employed, engaged through a Consultancy Agreement. Teachers can set their own rates, but we recommend they are in line with the Musicians’ Union (currently £40.50 per hour).
Benefits include hot lunches, onsite parking, staff socials and breath-taking scenery of the Howardian Hills.
Music has a high profile within the School, and all pupils in Pre Prep, Lower Prep and Upper Prep take part in regular public performances. Where we seek to stretch the most talented to the full, we also aim to encourage every pupil in the School to enjoy music and take its study to their own level. It is important that the person appointed can teach pupils who are of average ability with enthusiasm, as well as the highfliers.
Terrington Hall is popular co-educational day and boarding Prep school in North Yorkshire, 12 miles north of York. Terrington Hall is a vibrant stand-alone Prep School with 200 pupils from 3-13, the vast majority of whom go on to the leading senior independent schools at 13.
Terrington Hall School is committed to safeguarding and child protection and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate vetting procedures and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS with Barred List check.
Applicants should submit a CV (including details of key achievements and responsibilities), application form and a covering letter. Please email ndance@terringtonhall.com
Closing date for applications: 12.00pm Friday 15th November. Early applications are encouraged.
