Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Teacher of Spanish to join one of Kenya’s leading schools – in fact, one of the top schools on the whole African continent.

Kenyan education is recognised as generally excellent. About a dozen UK-style schools are at the forefront of Kenyan education, and Peponi is at the forefront of those schools. As an HMC member school, it enjoys an outstanding reputation and it educates over 300 children aged 11 to 18 from a cosmopolitan mix of local and expatriate families.

We are now seeking a new Teacher of Spanish who will help us take our Modern Foreign Languages Faculty to new highs in 2025.  You must be passionate about the language and be a first-class teacher, capable of teaching Spanish up to IGCSE and A level levels.

You could have significant experience or you could be just finishing your time as an ECT, but either way we are looking for someone with fresh ideas, plenty of enthusiasm and a drive for quality. What we really want is the ability to genuinely excite and inspire our pupils, rather than just deliver the curriculum.

If you can teach French too, at any level from Year 9 onwards, that will be great.

As a boarding and day school, we will also expect you to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. All staff take part in occasional boarding duties on a rota basis a couple of times each term, and we also have a wide range of pastoral programmes and extra-curricular activities. There'll be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved, and to add in or build your own interests. Life at Peponi is enjoyable, with a happy and collegiate atmosphere.

Our staff enjoy excellent working conditions including accommodation, a generous and comprehensive reward package, and significant amounts of personal and professional development. There is a great team spirit in our Common Room. If you join us you will achieve great job satisfaction and excellent experience, and you will enjoy a first-class quality of life in a wonderful location.  Kenya is a fabulous country.

If you’re excited by the sound of all this, please download the application form. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have and completed forms should be emailed to our Headmaster, Mark Durston, at applicants@peponischool.org

Please apply as soon as possible. Interviews will be arranged online or face to face on dates that are mutually convenient, starting as soon as we receive applications.

Peponi School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants will be subject to child protection screening, including checks with past employers, the UK Disclosure and Barring Service and/or authorities in other countries.
