Hours:             37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm

Contract:     Permanent, Term, Time Only

Start date:    February 2025

As part of our continued growth, we are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team at Mountfield Heath School, Robertsbridge.

About the role

To work under the direct instruction of the Senior Leadership Team, usually in the designated learning environment with a Teacher, to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. Work may sometimes be undertaken outside the main teaching area. To share the school’s responsibility to support and promote the learning, personal development and well-being of all students.

 

Key Result Areas 

To work under direct supervision/instruction to support access to learning by:

  • Attending to the welfare and learning needs of students;
  • To promote the social and emotional development of pupils through positive approaches that encourage appropriate relationships and the development of self-esteem;
  • Working with and leading small groups or one to one;
  • Undertaking general clerical/organisational support for the teacher.

General Responsibilities

The post holder will:

Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people;

  • Work in accordance with professional practice, statutory and legal requirements and the policies of Mountfield Heath School;
  • Take on specific tasks related to the day to day administration and organisation of the school;
  • Take responsibility for specific areas of work which will be reviewed annually within the performance management cycle and school improvement process;
  • Take on any additional responsibilities, which might from time to time be determined

Qualifications Required

  • English and Maths A-C

At Mountfield Heath School we support boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 11 years of age who have a range of social, emotional and mental health needs and also pupils who have been diagnosed with autism or demonstrate behaviours associated with autism. Our aim is very simple: we want to equip every child with the skills, knowledge and confidence that they need to be successful in their future.

Mountfield Heath School is set in a spacious, site with designated spaces for outdoor learning and large classrooms. The school is newly refurbished and all learning spaces are bright and airy with high specification IT resources. The school has designated therapeutic areas and plenty of space for creative and experiential learning to take place.
