Job overview

New Horizons Academy is an alternative education provision for learners aged 5 to 11 and whose needs cannot be met within a mainstream environment. In particular, the Academy provides placements for young people in the Northamptonshire area who exhibit social, emotional and behavioural concerns. We are committed to investing in the learning and development of students with educational, behavioural, social, or emotional learning difficulties under the instruction of their line manager or teacher in the classroom; enabling students to become independent learners and helping to raise standards of achievement.

We pride ourselves on delivering bespoke learning packages to vulnerable and SEN children. As well as supporting our students to excel in basic academic lessons, we also offer an array of social enrichment learning through both creative, therapeutic and practical approaches such as cookery, art music and outdoor learning.

Overview of the role of Teaching Assistant:

● mentoring, supporting and inspiring learners by supporting them with curriculum based learning in the classroom and outreach through outdoor activities

● assisting with the preparation of learning material and contributing to the delivery of learning objectives with a strong focus on social and emotional health assessment tools

● daily reports on learners progress and barriers to learning

● work collaboratively with members of SLT, Teachers and Advocates to support students and their parents

● interaction with parents/care givers on a regular basis

We would love to hear from people who:

● are passionate champions of vulnerable students and those with SEND

● have strong English and Math skills

● would like the opportunity to support students outside of a mainstream environment

● would like the opportunity to progress within the school and obtain career focused professional qualifications

● actively contribute to school safeguarding and welfare procedures
