Quay View School is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our education team. We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Work collaboratively with teachers, adapting strategies to support learning.
- Work collaboratively with the education and wellbeing teams to support students to engage and regulate.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
- Be an emotionally available adult for children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs.

Quay View School (located in Bere Alston) specialises in providing education for children and young people aged 7-19 with autism (ASD) and social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) related conditions, including trauma and attachment. The safeguarding and wellbeing of our students is paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their full potential.
Daily duties include:
- Supporting students’ safety and welfare
- Supporting teaching and learning
- Supporting students to engage and re-engage in their learning
- Supporting and devising activities which allow students to regulate their emotions
- Supporting students in their holistic development
Key Skills Required:
- Experience working with children and young people who have social/emotional difficulties and/or challenging behaviour.
- Ability to adapt support to meet the individual needs of students, enabling progress in their learning.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including basic ICT proficiency.
- Demonstrates high emotional availability and resilience.
- Able to stay calm and composed under pressure.

At Southern Peninsula Services, we offer bespoke placements for young people (boys and girls) aged 7 to 19 years who have complex needs including SEBD, ASD and other learning disabilities.
In liaison with the commissioning LA’s and parents, we are able to make clear decisions about the educational and care programmes that best meet the individual needs of the young person. Our programmes are also supported by on-site therapy services, where necessary.
