Hours: 37 hours per week. You will be required to be at work for a total of 1332 hours per year. This will usually be completed over a period of 36 weeks based around student term times. Holiday, including entitlement to Bank Holidays and Closure Days, will be taken outside this working time, unless by prior arrangement with your line manager

The Team
The art team works with students across a range of different courses from general art and design to fashion, photography, illustration, and spatial and graphic design. Courses are run at levels 1 – 4.
The Role
The Technician/Demonstrator role within the Art & Design curriculum area will support both staff and students with their technical knowledge and manage the day to day usage of the facilities in the specialist art studios and as the specialist in general art and design and manage materials, equipment and art studios. The role also requires the close monitoring of art and design equipment and materials, supporting exhibitions and display of art work.
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, abilities and qualities will include:

- Excellent organisation skills to meet deadlines.
- Self-sufficient - allocating tasks and prioritising workload.
- Resilient attitude and ability to work under pressure.
- Experience working / delivering open workshops - specialist skills [Art & Design].
- Ability to work and support the Art department- maintaining equipment/ resources/ H&S/ Orders and prepping for sessions.
- Creative eye for updating visual displays.
- Experience of setting up/curating exhibits or willingness to support end of year shows.
- First aid supervision to ensure good studio practice - willingness to undertake first aid training or accomplished in this already.
- High level of general Art & Design technical skills- broad based to support the Arts team on varied technical processes Degree/ industry experience would be desired.
- Experience of working with young people with versatile needs - EHCP/ ALS/ Mental health and well-being.

Northampton College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational further education college situated in Northamptonshire. It is a 16-plus institution with three campuses: a major building at its main Northampton site, a smaller campus near the town centre and another 20 miles away in Daventry. It provides places for around 9,000 students aged 16 and over, most of whom are full-time and aged 16-18.
Northampton College was opened in 1973. It merged with Daventry Tertiary College to expand its Daventry campus in August 2004, and its Booth Lane campus reopened after a large redevelopment in 2012.
