As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Woodland Provision Curriculum Lead to join our close-knit team at Oak Tree School located in Truro.
The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Woodland Provision Teacher to lead and develop our outdoor education programme. This is a unique opportunity to use the natural environment to engage, motivate, and support students with SEMH needs, helping them to build resilience, confidence, and essential life skills.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in the development of the school site, ensuring it supports and enhances educational outcomes. This will involve implementing a development plan where pupils are at the heart of the process, fostering ownership, creativity, and engagement in their learning environment. Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with other subject areas to establish and promote healthy cross-curricular links, creating a cohesive and enriching educational experience for our learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality outdoor learning sessions tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges.
- Foster a safe and supportive outdoor learning environment, ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of all students.
- Use adaptive teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and abilities, ensuring that every child can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
- Take a leadership role in developing the school site, creating and implementing a plan that actively involves students in shaping their learning environment.

Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.
