I have written my own newspaper article about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius/destruction of Pompeii.
I will be cutting it up for sequencing as well as using it as a model for pupils to write their own articles.
Following reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, my Year 4 class are writing 'Augustus and the Great Glass Pipe&'. I am using this extract to identify how Roald Dahl creates tension in this section of the story.

I've written a short poem about The Olympics to demonstrate an alternate rhyming pattern. This could be used as an example for pupils or pupils could be challenged to write the next verse.

<p>A series of whole class guided reading sessions aimed at Year 2/3 pupils using Malorie Blackman’s ‘Grandpa Bert And The Ghost Snatchers’.</p>

Comprehension questions based on the content domains of the National Curriculum. The questions are all in the style of KS1 SATS reading paper questions.</p>
<p>This matches up well with the Year 2 writing exemplifcations focusing on objectives to meet the expected standard at the end of Key Stage 1.</p>
<p>Two weeks planning, presentations and resources aimed at Year 2 pupils. This unit of work uses ‘The Story Machine’ by Tom McLaughlan as inspiration for writing a story in week one and explanations in week two.</p>
<p>Whole Class Reading planning and resources based on Drew Daywalt’s ‘The Day The Crayons Quit’.</p>
<p>This series of 12 lessons is aimed at Year 2 pupils, although may be appropriate for Year 3. Every lesson has retrieval skills tasks as well as a focus on either inference or questions based around vocab/definitions. Worked perfectly for our first few weeks of Whole Class Reading sessions in Year 2 as we moved away from phonics.</p>
