Scratch Assessment + Mark Scheme

(0)

An easy to follow assessment based around Scratch and key programming concepts. Q1 covers “sequencing”, Q2 covers “variables”, Q3 covers “sequencing”, Q4 covers “operators” and Q5 covers “iteration” and “debugging”. There is an easy to follow mark scheme and a revision powerpoint which could be set as homework, prior to the assessment. It is ideal for KS3, especially Year 7 or 8 and is really well differentiated, as there are easy questions and then increasingly trickier ones. It can be set as an end of unit assessment or as a baseline test to find out how much students already know about key programming terms, such as sequencing, variables, selection and iteration.

Introduction To Spreadsheets

This is an introductory lesson, in a series of four, that teaches complete beginners the basic features of Microsoft Excel with multiple short and easy to follow tasks based on using formatting tools like Fill Color, Borders, Numbers and Alignment, to name a few. It is followed by similarly structured lessons on how to use formulas, then one on functions and finally one on charts and graphs. There is also an assessment for a fifth lesson with a mark scheme. The lessons are wonderfully practical, well-paced and easy to follow for all abilities. Each task should take about 5 minutes with the challenge task at the end bringing together all the skills the students have been practicing during the session. It really does build confidence in a fun and relaxed way and I hope you find it as useful as I have.

A fun and engaging lesson that introduces students to behavioural economics, its history and relevance and how its assumptions differ from those of traditional economics. The powerpoint introduces and explains (with useful examples) the key concepts of rational behaviour, bounded rationality, heuristics and bounded self-control. There are activities in the powerpoint to check for students’ understanding. There is then a really useful worksheet which provides a word bank and then gets students to answer short A level type questions, with relevant terms from the word bank. I have provided a mark scheme to the worksheet with detailed answers to each question.
