BeePlus is an environmental project spread over one week aimed at KS2 pupils. Teaching input will take place in a science class, with activities and learning experiences spread across the entire curriculum. Topics covered are:
Day 1 - All about bees
Day 2 - Honeybee colonies
Day 3 - Beekeeping
Day 4 - Honey and beeswax
Day 5 - Problems and solutions/honeybee decline
The resource comprises of a resource manual with teachers’ information sheets, pupil information pages for each day with related activity sheets. Unfortunately, the CD of the resource manual is no longer available for teachers to show elements on screen and the Powerpoint presentation for days one and two and posters to print off. The manual does work without the CD, but teachers need to ignore all references to the CD.
This resource was originally rolled out in 2011 to 10,000 children in schools, Brownie Packs and Guide Groups across the country, and continues to be of interest with a revision in 2017.
