<p>A lesson introducing feminist literary criticism theory, race literary criticism theory and gender literary criticism theory.</p> <p>This is aimed at KS3 using extracts from <em>Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda</em>, <em>Happily Ever After</em> and <em>The Hate U Give</em>.</p> <p>THe lesson encourages students to start questioning a text through a critical lense to dig deeper in their analysis.</p>

<p>An entire half-term SoL for the study of the book of <em>Nick and Charlie</em> by Alice Oseman .</p> <p>It includes reading, writing and oracy tasks throughout and explores themes of masculinty, technology, relationships and moving away.</p> <p>Some extracts provided, but not a full copy of the book. SoL is target at Y9+ as the book contains some swearing and explicit language.</p> <p>This SoL could be used as part of wider diverse writers unit or as part of an extra-curricular club or as a stand-alone SoL.</p>

The unit of work zooms in on a different character from a Shakespearean play and looks at them using feminist, race or gender theory to challenge students’ thinking.</p> <p>SoL is easily adaptable to be changed into a reading focus.
