GCSE ENGLISH LITERATURE OCR J352-02 REVISION PACK POETRY

(0)
Since we are all trying to get to grips with the new OCR English GCSE, I designed this resource as a revision guide for students taking the new OCR J352 Unit 2 Poetry exam. Please note that this revision pack is primarily for the 'Youth and Age' part of the exam although there is a sample question each for Conflict and Love and Relationships. It includes the assessment criteria for the poetry question, a step-by-step guide to comparing two unseen poems and also sample questions which I have created for each of the OCR categories (love and relationships, conflict, youth and age). There is also a revision chart on Microsoft Excel that students can fill in (the poems listed are from the 'Youth and Age' section of the anthology but it would only take a couple of minutes to substitute them for the 'Love and Relationships' or 'Conflict' sections). There are six sample questions for the 'Youth and Age' category (twelve poems) and one sample question for each of the other categories. This is an invaluable resource which you can print off for your students. They have been tried and tested by my own! Good luck!

I have created this resource for my students to help them to revise and remember key quotes. I have found it useful as it saves students wasting time trawling the internet or searching their texts for key quotes. This pack contains: 1 x Jane Eyre Theme Board 1 x Jane Eyre Character Board 1 x Jane Eyre Theme Quotes (to cut out, stick on to the board and analyse) 1 x Jane Eyre Character Quotes (to cut out, stick on to the board and analyse) 1 x Jane Eyre Sample Exam Questions Sheet (6 sample questions) This would be a great revision activity for students to do in class or at home. I recommend that you print the character and theme boards on A3 paper so that students can stick quotes on to them. The revision sheets emphasise a need for A02/3 analysis. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Jolly phonics pictures for blending practise

This document contains the pictures for each of the jolly phonics groups 1-7. I print them, cut out the individual pictures and give them to my students in conjunction with the blending boxes (these are sourced from the jolly learning website under free resources). They can use the sound cards to spell out the words in the boxes. A great game is getting them to work in pairs and taking it in turns to spell out a word to their partner with the pictures, who then needs to find the correct word from the blending boxes. Comments welcome :-)

ESL/English conversation cards

Get your class talking with this great activity! Suitable for children in Years 4-6, P5-7 or Young Learners at Level 1-2. A very simple activity with subject topics on the front of each card and three questions on the back. Ideal for pair work, each child can take it in turns to pick up a card and quiz their partner. They need to think of an additional two questions of their own per card. Please leave a comment.

GCSE or Nat 5 OMAM Revision - Identify and analyse Steinbeck's techniques and sample questions

(1)
This resource would be great for GCSE English Literature students or National 5 English students. It includes a list of quotes requiring students to identify the technique (prefigurement, symbolism, metaphor etc) and analyse why Steinbeck has chosen to use that particular technique. Then, it includes a list of past prose questions. They need to choose one (ideally the most challenging one!), plan and write the essay. This would be a great homework activity as revision, or could be used as a classroom activity by pairing students up and asking them to plan the answer to a question in pairs. I created this resource to save me a lot of time trawling through past papers looking for questions based on a specific topic. This is an invaluable list of links to past papers from the edexcel website which are divided by main topic (1832 Reform Act, Chartism, further political reform and the role of political parties) and by part a/part b questions. I hope you find it as useful as I have! Please leave a comment :-)
