Pupils have to follow the step-by-step instructions involving bearings and distances to create a series of shapes. They get increasingly more difficult. Pupils must find the correct answer from a choice of 3 and use this to colour the picture that has a Christmas Theme.</p> <p>If the colours are not available then you can change them to ones the students have available.</p>

A set of clue cards to display on the board as a starter task. <br /> I produced this for a lesson where I was intending to use the excellent Mathematical Team Games resource by Tarquin publications. <br /> It gets students reading instructions and how to search for clues to start solving the problem. <br /> Solution given which links to nth term of a quadratic sequence.

Developed primarily for higher level GCSE maths students. <br /> Revision of formulae for the area of various 2D shapes, and working backwards from clues about the shapes to find the lengths needed to calculate the areas. <br /> The answer is 3622.22 cm squared correct to 6 s.f. (assuming that my workings are correct!)<br /> You could tell the pupils to put their answer correct to a different number of significant figures, whatever works for you.
