This 1st grade spelling word list is a list that incorporates a combination of long vowel words, short vowel words, first grade sight words, and general words that should be part of the vocabulary of a 1st grader.
The benefit of using word lists include that student can build a workable vocabulary, are able to prioritise which vocabulary they learn and if the word list is combined with spelling practice, they will be able to recall words from memory resulting in them being able to use the words in conversations as well as in written work.
