This lesson looks at the growth of violence in the mid 1980s in South Africa. It focuses on the development of Black against Black violence with tensions high among ANC, IFP, AZAPO, UDF etc. It also focuses on unrest and tension amongst the white communities, notably the breakaway and formation of groups like the Conservative Party and HNP from the NP. It also looks at the far-right paramilitary work of AWB. Source and exam questions.
