A chunked lesson which allows lower ability pupils the chance to explore the character of Marley in relation to the gothic elements of the text. Pupils work in pairs to analyse a popular image of Marley before they explore the many elements that feature in traditional gothic texts and are also present in this passage of A Christmas Carol. Pupils then work on the selected extract to delve into language which fits the gothic genre.
