AQA GCSE Biology Required Practicals Lab Book

This 48 page Lab Book covers the Required Practical Activities in AQA GCSE Biology 8461, and the Biology practical content of Combined Science Synergy 8464 and Combined Science Trilogy 8465. It provides methods for the practical activities and focuses on development of the Apparatus and Techniques (AT) and Working Scientifically (WS) skills, which includes use of scientific vocabulary, quantities, units, symbols and nomenclature, development of scientific thinking, experimental skills and strategies and analysis and evaluation. It also has opportunities for development of the Mathematical (MS) Skills. These skills will be tested in the new examinations.
Each practical has a short introduction to put it into context and has templates for students to record their data in tables, graphs/bar charts/kite diagrams. Each practical activity has a conclusion and evaluation template on which to record students’ and teachers’ thoughts on reproducibility, repeatability, validity, anomalies, errors and improvements. There are questions about the practical activity, designed to relate students’ findings to the theory, and about the method of obtaining and representing data.
