With this activity, students will practice evaluating expressions using the order of operations as they have fun coloring! Students will reveal a beautiful, colorful mandala as they simplify expressions using the order of operations and then color the picture accordingly. This activity uses only basic order of operations (no nested parentheses or brackets) and only has one problem each with exponents and distributive property. It is aimed for students who do not yet use calculators (4th - 7th) and is a fun way to review essential arithmetic skills! Give your students something they'll enjoy doing as they fine-tune their skills! This activity is great for sub plans, enrichment, early finishers, extra practice, or just plain fun. As an added bonus, the finished products make excellent classroom decor!
