A starter activity for introducing the Shia and Sunni Muslim divide.
Pupils will discuss and justify reasons for succession with regards to pop culture (pop icons have been given as examples based on popularity, success and family ties).
This can be related to a main body of content explaining the similar types of discussions Muslims had when discussing the successor of the Muhammad.
Extra resource material has been included to assist in creating a main task relating to this starter.
