Students will learn about UK pioneers like Dame Elizabeth Anionwu and Dr Donald Palmer , and how their work has shaped the world.

The lesson culminates in a Careers Challenge, where students work in groups to design their own innovative future science careers by combining historical discoveries with modern scientific challenges. This lesson also highlights potential science careers in fields like environmental science, medicine, space exploration, and technology, while outlining the educational pathways needed to pursue these careers. The session promotes creativity, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for diversity in science, making it a perfect fit for Black History Month or any science-focused drop-down day.
