This is a stand-alone lesson aimed at introducing Bob Dylan’s lyrics to older students and evaluating his songs as works of art/literature.
It includes a deep dive into the definition of literature, how to analyse song lyrics as a form, and the analysis of ‘A Hard Rain’s-a-Gonna Fall’, ‘Shelter from the Storm’ and ‘All Along the Watchtower’ with information on the social/historical/biographical context of some of his songs.
It could be used in an English lesson, assembly or Gifted and Talented activity.
