Spring Couplets are pairs of propitious verses written in black or gold ink on red paper. It’s a tradition in China that people put on Spring couplets on the main door frames so to bring good luck to the house.
Spring Festival couplets consist of two paper scrolls, pasted vertically on either side of the door. A shorter horizontal scroll is often pasted across the top. People often paste a lucky character such as (“fortune”) or (“spring”) in the middle of the door.
