Christmas Comprehension Worksheets KS2

These are Christmas reading comprehension passages for Key Stage 2 that include a range of nonfiction Christmas texts for KS2, whilst also giving you a selection of Christmas reading comprehension activities. Each Christmas reading passage has a non-fiction reading text, followed by four Key Stage 2 comprehension questions. There are then three Christmas themed reading activities, which can be used with any of the passages.

• A Night in the Life of Santa Claus
• Make your Own Wreath

What’s included?

• 5 non-fiction Christmas themed passages - one poem, one set of instructions, two informational texts and a day in the life diary

• 20 KS2 comprehension questions - include questions on main idea and key details, quoting accurately from the text and vocabulary questions

• 3 reading comprehension activities - these can be used with any of the passages. There’s a comparison worksheet, a vocabulary worksheets and two or more main ideas and key details worksheet

The children in your class will enjoy the variety of passages and tasks. There is lots to keep them busy, as they work through the questions and activities.

The passages and activities could be printed out and given to the children as a pack. This would make it perfect for a supply teacher day.

There’s not much to prepare… All you need to do is print the sheets out and hand to your class!

The three activity sheets are designed to delve deeper into the reading strategies:

• The comparing worksheet requires students to find similarities and differences between passages
• The vocabulary worksheet requires students to find synonyms for particular pieces of vocabulary within the passage
• The main ideas and key details sheet requires students to find two main points and key details for the passage of their choice
