All of these games and techniques contain full instructions, practical help with problems, ‘how to develop’ further and FAQs. There are games for all ages from 5 to adult, all developed to improve confidence, develop communication skills, self-expression and help participants take more responsibility for their behaviour and status within the group.
They first began development in trying to reduce conflict within schools and became known for pupils becoming more articulate and enjoying talking about conflict and associated difficulties. Soon this developed into rehearsals of new life skills followed by classes or other groups wanting to take more responsibility for their groups.
The key techniques and games also became very effective and popular in other countries and within PRU’s (Pupil Referrals Units), those excluded from the mainstream and those denied full schooling because of social or racial division.
Those not confident in running exercises with a group will welcome the overall philosophy, methods for running a session and the examples set within the Keystone Techniques. The history and philosophy section from the book is currently available as a free download so that you can see whether it’s right before you buy.
