I made these resources for my Year 7 class - initially to be a ‘self-marking’ homework. I now use them to encourage talk in my classroom.
The Crossnumber in this pack can be used to frame this type of collaborative learning.
Split the class into pairs
- Give the Across clues to one pupil
- Give the Down clues to another pupil
- Set time for the pupils to complete their set of questions on their own
- Set time for the pupils to share their solutions
- Both pupils now share their answers. Correct answers from both pupils will give the same result in the same square.
Alternatively, give a copy both the Across and Down clues to pupils to complete for homework or as independent task in class.
