Daily Spelling Lesson Flip Charts and Medium Term Plan - Year 2 - Following the National Curriculum

Daily spelling lessons covering seven weeks of work! Medium term plan included with coverage of the spellings each week.

Each week contains a new spelling rule, carefully following the Year 2 National Curriculum spellings. When following the National Curriculum, this would be perfect for Autumn 2!

The spelling rules included in this pack are:
kn and gn at the beginning of words
wr at the beginning of words
le at the end of words
el at the end of words
al at the end of words
il at the end of words
y at the end of words



There is an activity for each day which follows a general pattern of:
1. Introduction to the rule and spellings where children can copy them into their spelling books.
2. Review the spelling rule in partners and whiteboard work to 'quick write' the spellings.
3. Games such as circle spellings and identifying right and wrong spellings.
4. Spelling aerobic - Reach high for tall letters (e.g. h, t l), touch toes for letters with a descender (p, g, y) and wiggle for letters that just sit on the line (e, s, o).
5. Spelling test with answers to mark.
