In this KS3 scheme of work, students will design their own monsters and creatures, drawing inspiration from artists John Burgerman, John Kenn, Indrajeet Chandrachud, and David Shillinglaw. Over 7 weeks (one half term), students will develop skills in drawing, color blending, color theory, mark making, and character design. They will create initial sketches, refine these into detailed coloured drawings, and finally, sculpt their characters into 3D clay models using the pinch pot technique, which will be glazed. The project culminates in a class exhibition of their completed, glazed monster or creature models.
