A reading comprehension task which looks at an autobiographical text written by a child during WW2. The narrator writes about her experiences of evacuation, being given a gas mask and her D Day celebrations. The resource also allows students to view the experience of a child evacuee.

This lesson gives students a simplified and broken-down way of accessing a non-fiction text. The first part poses comprehension and language activities. These activities ensure the text is carefully read.

The second part of the lesson looks at vocabulary building and writing skills. This lesson has been created specifically for WW2 themed lessons, suitable for KS2 or KS3 students.
