A reading comprehension task which looks at an extract from the semi autobiographical novel ‘Little Women’ by Louisa May Alcott.
The extract is taken from a section where the March girls talk about Xmas without their father and the sacrifices they must make. The text is dialogue driven, and the lesson gives students some revision tasks on writing using speech.
This activity gives students a simplified and broken-down way of accessing the text. The first part poses comprehension and language activities. The activities ensure the text is carefully read. The second part of the lesson looks at vocabulary building and writing skills. This lesson has been created specifically for Christmas themed lessons, suitable for KS3 or KS4s tudents. It can also be adapted for able KS2 classes.
Suitable for Xmas or any other time of the year!
