Exploring Quadratics, Cubics & Reciprocals in Desmos

An independent exploration for students to investigate the shape and properties of quadratics, cubics and reciprocal functions, as well as a recap section for linear equations.

The explorations looks at:

• Plotting points to discover the shape of a quadratic
• Quadratics: shape, roots, solving equations using graphs, minimum/maximum, line of symmetry.
• Cubics: shape, turning points, solving equations using graphs
• Reciprocals: shape, asymptotes (brief)

I made this for my Year 9 class to complete during remote learning. I have also attached the worksheets I plan to use afterwards. I will then use this Desmos resource to encourage the use of their new quadratics vocabulary https://teacher.desmos.com/polygraph-parabolas
