This resource focuses on the language technique focalisation (point of view). The worksheet begins with an information box which explains the technique, gives an example and explains its effect. This is followed by a range of activities which build in complexity through the two-page worksheet. Activities include comparing the effects of focalisation from different perspectives and students composing their own short pieces of writing focalised through different characters. Consideration is given to the way a reader is positioned to feel a particular way due to how a text is focalised.
The PowerPoint is designed to accompany the worksheet and includes key aspects of the worksheet for classroom instruction and elaboration, as well as a visual stimulus task.
