There are 6 examples of pairs of shoes /trainers that show the soles and the patterns on these.

Children can talk about the colours, shapes and patterns.
They can then look at a selection of shoes /trainers examining their soles /patterns. They could consider why certain shoes may have particular patterns.
Children could bring to school a pair of shoes from home that show interesting patterns.

They can draw the patterns and/or make up patterns of their own.
Sheet 1 of the resource shows black and white pairs of trainers. These can be photocopied for children to colour or paint.
