This is a unit of work consisting of 8 formal lessons but with the potential to elongate to 10 or more lessons.
There is a complete powerpoint of lessons along with a student work booklet to simply print out for the unit. A pdf of an authorised translation of the story into English is also included.
These lessons teach about French Literature, particularly the work of the famous author Guy de Maupassant and focus on one of his short stories “The Necklace” or La Parure in French.
These lessons are in English and give a great introduction to french literature **suitable for KS3 or KS4 classes. **
The powerpoint can also be used as a template for teaching any short novel, you would just have to change the story details on the slides. Ideally this is used as a stand-alone unit of work to** teach the core principals of studying literature** and has lessons on:
- Learning about literary techniques authors use
- Mastering the paragraph (how to write an excellent paragraph)
- Analysis of themes and imagery in literary works
There are many fun and interactive activities such as:
- Hot seating
- Scrabble challenges
- Creating a story cube to hang in the classroom at the end of unit
- Creative writing activities
