After the harsh winter we’re having this year, the thought of Groundhog Day (and perhaps an
early spring?!) is soooo appealing right now! I live in Woodstock, Illinois, where the
Groundhog Day movie was filmed. The holiday is one of the most significant days of the year
for us! We have our own Woodstock Willie the Groundhog come out and give his prediction
with the Mayor, and the whole weekend is filled with events, tours, and family activities. The
bed and breakfast from the movie is still in business (and as beautiful as ever!). And the ‘flea
bag hotel’ from the movie on the Square is actually our historic Opera House, where Orson
Welles got his start in acting. I get so proud of our town’s history!
