A series of lessons spanning 6 weeks.
I use this for the last half term of year 9 prior to students choosing their options
Scenario: You have been asked to produce a portfolio to stakeholders who are looking to build a state-of-the-art residential home based on research in the local area.
For your portfolio, you need to do the following:
- Explain the growth and development of individuals’ in later adulthood. (INTERVIEW).
- Design a residential home with various rooms and facilities suitable for service users.
- Produce a written justification for how the facilities are appropriate for service users. (REPORT BASED)
- Create job descriptions for the jobs available in the residential home. (DOCUMENTARY WITH WORKSHEET, CAREER QUIZ AND TEMPLATES)
- Design a care plan for a service user who has specific needs. (TEMPLATE AND CASE STUDIES PROVIDED)
- Justify how the care home and care plan is focused on person-centred care. (REPORT BASED but with teacher input)
During this project, I also liaised with a dementia friend ambassador who delivered training to students so they could become a dementia friend.
