A simple simulation of the experiment. Unzip the file. Open the folder. Double click on ‘spring stretch version 4.html’ and it opens in your browser. Add the masses by clicking the buttons, and watch the spring stretch. Use a ruler to measure the extension. (The anomaly on the graph at 3N is probably due to a draught of warm air expanding the spring as a door was opened). Enjoy!
