This is a reading club resource for a small group of pupils with ten planned sessions, with materials taken from the teen edition of I am Malala and from my own resources. It also includes a extended reading list on Malala Yousafzai, and educational access globally. I recommended a small group of up to 4 pupils for this reading intervention.
Every session consists of Group Reading and Discussion Points.
Students read set Independent Reading prior to the class, and in some sessions there is extra reading (‘Aim High Research’) which aims to develop student’s research skills.
Students complete the Aim High Project in lesson 6, and this is shared in lesson 9. There is another Aim High Project that helps the students reflect in the final session on what makes a role model.
The sessions for this book club are thirty minutes in length and work well as a reading intervention for student’s who need confidence in contributing in class, and more time reading to improve their fluency.
