IB Global Politics - Guantanamo Bay

A simple PowerPoint presentation that begins with students writing down what they already know about the US prison at Guantanamo Bay. The teacher then debriefs this with a class discussion. Students then watch four different video clips about conditions at Guantanamo Bay and then conduct research in pairs with a variety of news articles that are all linked in the presentation. The lesson then concludes with a class discussion where students share their conclusions regarding the key questions of whether or not Guantanamo Bay is a human rights violation and what should be done to resolve the issue. The lesson is meant to be done over two class periods.
