A relative brief PowerPoint presentation that originally was used over a single 50 minute lesson with an IB Year 1 Global Politics class. The lesson begins asking students to discuss in groups when it is justified for states to act alone in pursuing their interests and when they should rely on multilateral action. Students are then given a graphic organizer that outlines arguments for each side of the debate and asked to reassess their position. The lesson concludes with a discussion on when or if unilateral action is justified.
