This is a writing lesson for adult ESL students focusing on sentence and paragraph structure. It is designed for students who are intermediate level and above who need to write academic essays for IELTS or other academic purposes. Although it focuses on the requirements of the IELTS exam the stratergies are applicable to any type of academic writing.

Academic Writing for Adult ESL EAL Students (IELTS)

This is a bundle of 6 academic writing skills resources designed to prepare ADULT ESL students for the IELTS exam. The lessons are appropriate for any Intermediate/Upper Intermediate classes especially those with an academic focus. The lessons are written for teachers who are preparing students for the IELTS exam or any other academic situation but they can also be used as self study by students. The resources cover the main challenges ESL/EAL students have with academic writing and cover: Sentence paragraph and essay structure, Writing complex sentences, Paraphrasing Writing Introductions and Conclusions Information report writing Letter writing - formal and informal The resources are very detailed and there is enough material in these 6 resources for at least 12 hours of lessons possibly a lot more, depending on how you use them. Each resource stands alone and can be used in any order depending on the needs of your students. The Writing Introductions and Conclusion and Paraphrasing resources are the most difficult. Please refer to each product for a detailed description of what's included. Like all my resources, this lesson is designed specifically for adults. It incorporates language that adults will need to use and situations that are relevant to adult learners. I put a lot of effort into creating and checking my resources. IELTS Writing Bundle

This bundle contains 3 structured packages each containing several lessons. It is designed for students who are intermediate level and above who need to write academic essays for IELTS or other academic purposes. The lessons are based on the requirements of the IELTS exam although the concepts are applicable to any type of academic writing. All of the lessons focus on essay structure which is a problem most IELTS students struggle with. To get a good grade in IELTS the student must have a well structured essay that answers the question. Package 1 focuses on Writing Task 1 which is a description of a graph, bar chart, table etc. It looks at the essay structure, language to describe trends in data and the language of comparison Package 2 looks at the 5 most common essay types and how to identify them. It examines the essay structure of an opinion essay and an advantages and disavantages essay type. It addresses common mistakes and ways to avoid them. Package 3 focuses on essay structure of opinion essays and the use of complex sentences and cohesive devices.
