This is a full unit on Introduction to Poetry (5 lessons) which can be used with students who have a strong level of French (A Level students, GCSE students choosing to do French A Level, adult students…) but can be adapted to different levels.
I have used it at the end of the year after exams to do something a bit different and during cross curricular weeks (connections with English, Music, Arts and History).
Detail of the lessons (each lesson can be covered 2 teaching sessions)
Lesson 1: La poésie (what is poetry, vocabulary around poetry, analysis of the format and content of Chansons d’Automne by Paul Verlaine)

Lesson 3: Calligrammes (origin, discussions around La femme au chapeau by Guillaume Apollinaire, exercise on Il pleut by Daniel Brugès or Il pleut by Guillaume Apollinaire) - lesson Art/French
