Female scientist and British astronomer, Jocelyn Bell Burnell was born on July 15, 1943, in Belfast Northern Ireland. She is known for discovering pulsars (the cosmic sources of radio pulses). Jocelyn Bell enjoyed attending school as a child and had a love for learning. That was until soon after starting secondary school, school officials divided the children into separate groups. The boys attended science lab and the girls attended homemaker class. Bell overcame many obstacles because of her gender when she decided to become an astronomer.
