KEY STAGE 3 INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS ENQUIRY UNIT OF WORK: TWO WORLD WARS OR ONE WITH A 20-YEAR CEASEFIRE?

This unit of work has been created for key stage 3 students (best suited to Year 9) to consider into the question: Two world wars, or one with a 20-year ceasefire in the first part of the 20th century. It contains 10 lessons which build up to a creative and self-directed assessment in lesson 11, and a whole class quiz and individual word search for recap; competition and fun in the 12th lesson. The lessons are as follows: 1. The end of WW1 2. The Paris Peace conferences 3. The Treaty of Versailles Part 1 4. The Treaty of Versailles Part 2 5. Case Study - Mussolini 6. Case Study - Hitler 7. Case Study - Japanese militarism 8. The failure of the League of Nations 9. Appeasement 10. The Nazi-Soviet Pact 11. Self-directedassessment 12. Competition time! Each lesson is fully resourced, and activities are varied and focused, and all feed into answering the enquiry question. This unit of work prepares students very effectively for I/GCSE history, and gives them a head start with the content. Duration: 12 hours (approximately one half term) Free sample lesson available
