This scheme was introduced to enable students to understand the importance, power and social structure of African Kingdoms prior to the Transatlantic Slave Trade module. This has really improved the higher order thinking of the students when assessing the impact of the transatlantic slave trade.

There is a focus on comprehension for students to extract the key knowledge.

Lesson 1 - Kingdom of Benin
Lesson 2 - Life in Benin
Lesson 3 - Power of the Oba
Lesson 4 - European Influence
Lesson 5 - Introduction of colony

The assessment question following this module was: The Benin Bronzes should not be returned to Africa. Do you agree?
