KS2/3 Insulation Project

This is a fully resourced project to design a coat looking a conduction, convection and radiation.

It is planned to last 6 lessons centered around a simple practical. It includes a booklet which has spaces for self and peer assessment as well as a final teacher assessment at the end. Each lesson has differentiated support slides (red for the least support, amber middle and lower for high levels of support). I have run this parallel with a top and bottom set class with each achieving highly. It has also been used by a non-specialist supply and in a standard classroom rather than a science lab.

This includes a teacher plan including information for lab technicians, fully differentiated powerpoint, booklet which follows the powerpoint

Lesson 1 - Success criteria and research (computer lesson)
Lesson 2 - Prediction, Variable and Risk assessment
Lesson 3 - Doing the experiment (drop of in temperature of hot water with different material surrounds. It may take 2 lessons)
Lesson 4 - Craft Drawing
Lesson 5 - Conclusion and Evaluation
Lesson 6 - Feedback and improvement time.
