In this unit, children will explore Christianity and how Christians use the bible verse ‘Love thy neighbour’ to help and care for others in their community and in other countries. They will be inspired by the Bible verse to help others and think about the differences they can make.

Each lesson has a detailed lesson plan, PowerPoint and accompanying resources.

Lesson 1
L.O. To understand the meaning of ‘love your neighbour’.
Success Criteria:
I understand the ways that Christians show commitment to God.
I can give examples of what Christians do to show their commitment to God.
I understand the difficulties of showing commitment to God from a Christian’s point of view.

Lesson 2
L.O. To understand how others can inspire people to save others.
Success Crtieria:
I can discuss what a ‘neighbour’ means and how we can show ‘love’, ‘care’ and ‘help’.
I can give examples of how people help others.
I understand the concept of ‘love your neighbour’ and how I relate to this.

Lesson 3
L.O. To understand the key beliefs of Christianity.
Success Criteria:
I can discuss my beliefs about what is important in life.
I can ask questions about beliefs and Christianity.
I can discuss what inspires myself and others and why

Lesson 4
L.O. I understand that building relationships with others are expressions of faith.
Success Criteria:
I can create a poster that inspires others
I understand why and how Christians Love Thy Neighbour
I am inspired by this unit and can plan what I will do to Love Thy Neighbour
