This free KS2 poetry resource explores writing a wildly imaginative poem about a punctuation mark, using the poem ‘New Beginnings’ by Emma Phillips as inspiration. It is a fresh and creative way to approach thinking about punctuation.

There are clear, easy-to-follow prompts for class activities and individual writing. There is a printable poster of the poem and a stylish blank template for pupils to write up and display their new work. The file type is PDF.

‘New Beginnings’ was first published on the Tyger Tyger Magazine website in 2024. Further free downloadable poem posters and teaching resources are available here on TES and on the Tyger Tyger website: tygertyger.net
