KS3 Reading Booklet with Reading Activities - Adventure Extracts

This booklet (39 pages) was designed for KS3 to ‘teach reading’ to students as part of a reading curriculum. It equips students with the skills necessary to tackle challenging vocabulary and texts.

3. The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien
4. Empire of the Sun by J. G. Ballard
5. Lord of the Flies by William Goulding

7. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Each extract is followed by a range of reading activities that explore language acquisition, narrative structure, retrieval practice, comprehension and creative writing.

The booklet has been designed to ‘teach reading’ to students within a reading lesson, but could be set independently for students.
